Tim Brown

Tim's formal qualifications in Physics and Computer Science provided an entry into the computing industry in Dunedin where he interrupted his postgraduate studies to work for a company developing software for natural language translation (between the English, French and German languages). After two years he returned to university to complete a Masters degree in Computer Science. Tim's Masters thesis was part of the original work that resulted in the formation of Animation Research.

Tim moved to England in late 1987, where he worked for the Analysis Corporation plc and Applied Interactive Technology plc as a Contract/Freelance Analyst Programmer.

He returned to Dunedin to become senior programmer at AgResearch's Invermay site. He became development manager and deputy to the corporate manager IT at AgResearch. He also graduated from a Master of Business Administration programme.

With his business partner, Ross Brown, Tim co-founded Turing Solutions in 1997, NZ.Com Limited in 1999 and Unify Group in 2000.

Tim's software development history includes software for DNA analysis; as well as the more traditional: procurement, document and information management systems. He specialises in strategic software development - allowing businesses to gain competitive advantage from innovative use of information technology. He works with the senior management and/or the internal IT staff of organisations to help the organisation map its strategic path.
